Doctor-Patient: Zero Trust Relationship | My Experience

Doctor-Patient: Zero Trust Relationship
 Complaining a Greedy Doctor

  • Doctors are recommending unnecessary medical tests
  • Doctor made a false claim you are diagnosed with a critical xyz disease
  • More than 90 % deliveries are by surgery
  • Doctor did surgery claiming patient has cancer, but actually it was not the case

My experience

Visited a spinal specialty hospital in New Delhi due to pain in leg, observe doctor intention is not right. Doctor was not interested in understanding case properly. Doctor has written 3 MRI Scan, 4 digital X-Rays and multiple blood tests, all test costing around 30,000 Rs, and doctor looks claiming about need of urgent medical surgery which will be covered in Medical Insurance.

Instead of following him blindly, I decided doing only the most important tests based on my medical history of back pain and take opinion with different doctor. As per Second and third consultancy doctors suggests situation is not as dangerous as first doctor claimed.

Later I filed a complaint of first doctor in his hospital and this lead to a discussion with Quality Team. After multiple discussions with quality team, hospital offer complimentary constancy with doctor of my choice in same hospital

Moral of the story

There is no trust in the Relationship of Doctor and patient. Whatever doctor suggest, we should verify from multiple other sources and then take a decision.

How to verify Doctor's Recommendation
  • Take at least two opinions from other doctors. Now days there are many online consultancy services are also available for quick verification at low expense and its time saving.
  • Maintain your own log of medical history, record all illness and medicines with salt name suggested by doctors and worked for you.
  • Record all medical test details in relation with medical test.
  • This will solve two purposes...
    • Now you know which medicine will work for you. No need to visit doctors and wasting money in same illness.
    • We can predict what doctor may suggest in particular disease
  • Find Ayurveda and alternates therapy before taking big decisions like surgery.
  • Searching on Internet, but be cautious.
